The Benefits Of The Razor Scooter

The Razor scooter is a great suggestion for everyone wanting to remain healthy. These days many of people are office-bound and we all seem to have a decreased amount of time for just going out for a walk, which is the age-old therapy for putting on a few pounds. The Razor scooter can assist you here.

How frequently have you said to yourself, ‘I haven’t got time to walk’ or ‘I can’t be bothered to walk’ and then have jumped in the automobile instead? But what if you had a Razor scooter handy? You could simply scooter down to the store or the park. You could take the dog for more walks and at a snappier speed too, something your dog will surely be thankful for.

The Razor A series or its bigger stablemates, the Razor Pro or Razor Cruiser, are not expensive, costing between $40 and $60, cheaper still at Amazon or eBay, yet they will soon save you hundreds of dollars on gas. After all, starting a car is usually the most expensive part of a short trip.

The Razor scooter is also very versatile. Weighing in at approximately six pounds, anybody could carry it without difficulty up or down a couple of stairs or lift it in or out of the trunk of a car. But not only that, it folds up too, so that the whole scooter is only a couple of feet long by six inches high by six inches wide. It will without difficulty fit in a passage sideboard or the boot of a car.

Your Razor scooter could be used in many ways to save you money and keep you trimmer. For instance, if you want a loaf of bread, you could hop on your scooter. You could take you dog to the park. You could scooter with your kids ‘in a pack’. You could put a Razor scooter in the trunk of your car and scooter the last half a mile into college. And every time you get on that scooter, you are burning not petroleum but flab!

Think of it that way. You are saving fuel and money and burning your excess calories at the same time. You are also exercising your legs and increasing your metabolism and heart rate too. That is everything the bank manager and the doctor advised all rolled into one . And you will be in first-class company too.

Do you know who else’s kids ride Razor scooters? Well, there’s Al Pacino’s twins for a start. Now, Al Pacino is not short of a few dollars, I’m sure, so you can be certain that he’s going to be looking for the best for his kids, isn’t he? And Lisa Kudrow and her son. And Liv and Cal, progeny of Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich. You would be forgiven for saying, ‘Aw well, they got theirs for free!’ and that may be true, but at approximately $40 who worries?

The advantages in saved motor fuel and increased exercise make the Razor scooter a must-have necessity in my eyes. So, take another look at the Razor scooter and keep in mind that someone’s birthday is coming up in a little while.

Trains In Seattle Bring Out The Inner Child

Boys and girls of all ages love trains and train sets. They have played a very important part in the history of this country and Seattle, Washington and the Northwest in particular. In deed, the roles of trains in this part of the country have in the past been so vital that there are a few museums devoted to them. Trains were essential lifelines for the people here for many years. While their importance seems to be diminishing in today’s society, their importance throughout the history of our country remains.

If you really are a train enthusiast, then it should not be hard to talk you into stopping by Seattle’s Train Center before and after touring the museums devoted to trains and their importance in history. The Train Center offers a wide selection of model train parts and pieces that would make excellent additions to your train set or a great beginning for a train set for you or your kids.

After you’ve whetted your enthusiasm for trains and gotten your child all excited about them, it is time to take a walk back in time to the Northwest Railway Museum. There you can learn about railway history or even choose to take a ride on one of the trains that departs on several tours throughout the day. Most of the excursions are 65-75 minutes long and are a great extravagance for young and old alike. Perhaps the best thing about this museum is that its main objective is to educate the public about the important role that railroads had in the growth of this part of the country.

If you’re really interested in sharing your love for trains with the ones you love, you may consider taking a spin on the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train. This is a great way to not only get the experience of riding the rails but to take in some of the beautiful Washington scenery and have a gourmet meal in the process. During the months of November through to April up to two children may ride free with a paying adult.

There are certain limitations on the type of seating, but it is a great way to enjoy the experience at a greatly reduced price. There are also exclusive events such as Murder Mystery Trains and Magic and Illusion shows in addition to certain holiday events as well. Be sure to check out what is going on while you are visiting Seattle and see if this is something that might interest you and your family.

If you are up for a not so short drive to Pasco (about three and a half hours from Seattle), you might find the Washington State Railroads Historical Society Museum well worth the journey. Be sure to remember that the museum is only open on Saturday and that the hours are restricted so this is a journey you need to plan in advance. The greatest thing about this museum to me is the fact that there are lovely little stories, like the blackboard that recorded the first snowfall at the depot each year and others such as this.

It is the short stories that do not necessarily make history that do make lasting impressions and I am glad to see this particular story is being shared. Just remember, when visiting any of these depots, museums, and train tours that you definitely must bring your inner child with you in order to enjoy them as you should.

Owen Jones, the author of this article, writes on a lot of topics, but is presently involved with train sets for kids. If you would like to know more about train sets for kids, please go over to our website for some great offers.

Fleas and Other Parasites

Fleas and other parasites ought to always be awarded the top priority by dog owners. Flea bite allergy in dogs is very common and causes concern to many dog owners every year, especially in the summer, although all year round if your dog lives indoors with central heating. This is because flea bites often produce allergic reactions in the area bitten by the fleas, which is very often on the back just above the tail. In these cases, the affected skin becomes red and bald due to the dog’s continuous scratching of itself.

Heavy flea infestations can cause severe dermatitis in dogs. If the flea bites cause allergic reactions or dermatitis in the dog, it really ought to be taken to the vet, because on many occasions, the dog will be experiencing severe discomfort.

The vet will provide you a cream to ease the itching and reduce the inflammation and some powder or a spray to kill the fleas. Prevention, however, is better than cure and medicated collars are available to treat and prevent an infestation of external blood-suckers like ticks and fleas.

Besides fleas, other parasites like ticks and lice plus internal parasites like hookworm, round worm, whip worms etc. can affect the health of your dog. For example, if hookworms infect a dog, that dog will normally suffer from anaemia. The signs of anaemia become more prominent depending on the severity of infection by the hookworm.

Hookworm larvae will enter directly through the skin and cause severe problems inside the infected dog. Such dogs may have cuts on the paws and on the skin due to dermatitis. Frequently, skin rashes result in such cases and the affected animal may also pass runny stools, which are tinged red with blood.

Most dogs and all puppies get round worms, which is why dogs can often be seen rubbing their bottoms along the floor. However, if round worms are present in large numbers, affected puppies show a pot belly, which is easily recognized by dog owners themselves. Piperazine salts are given orally for the treatment of this condition. However, broad-spectrum anthelmintics like pyrantel pamoate, fenbendazole etc. are also used to treat this condition.

Many drugs have arrived on the market to treat fleas and other parasites, although nowadays, the medical agent called ivermectin seems to be preferred by many dog owners to treat fleas and other parasites in dogs. This drug is available for injection or oral use and is now even available for external application too.

The Spitting Cobras

The snake called the spitting cobra is one of the most peculiar species as it not only has a venomous bite but it also sprays venom into the eyes of its prey and aggressors. Contact of this venom with your eyes can be very painful and even temporarily blinding, therefore, if you get cobra venom in your eyes, irrigate them immediately in order to prevent permanent tissue damage.

The King Cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) is also remarkable in this large family of snakes (elapidae) because it feeds almost entirely on other snakes with mice and small birds also falling prey to its poison.

The King Cobra is also a record-holder because of its size - it can reach almost twenty feet (585 cms) in length, which makes it the largest poisonous snake in the world. The most recent discovery of a new species of cobra was made in 2003 as part of an illegal shipment of exotic pets at London Zoo.

According to DNA studies this new species of snake is similar to the red spitting cobra but different in terms of genes. It appears to have originated in an area between Sudan and Egypt, and it was given the name of the ‘Nubian Spitting Cobra’.

Though highly dangerous when it is threatened cobras will not attack if you leave them alone, although the spit is very accurate for about two meters. Compared to the strike of a rattlesnake, the cobra is fairly slow in its attack and furthermore, many bites prove to be blank, that is without venom.

Statistics of a study conducted on Malaysian cobra snake victims indicate that only 55% of the bites involved poison release and the same statistics indicate a mortality rate of only 10% for people bitten, since the poisons injected into the blood of the prey destroy the nerves (neurotoxins), which induces respiratory failure approximately half an hour after being bitten, so you have 30 minutes to seek help.

Their colouration varies from light green-grey to black, although juveniles are yellow and black banded. This snake is widespread throughout south-eastern Asia.

Golfing Tips for Beginners: 5

‘Drive for show, but putt for dough’ is the phrase we’ve all seen and learned from watching professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.

The champions of golf can drive a ball from here to kingdom-come, but it all comes down to how many strokes it takes to get the ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don’t mean anything if you’re unable to putt accurately.

Choosing a putter is very important, but using whatever putter you have consistently is even more so. I’ve had the same putter for fifteen years: I know what it feels like in my hand; I know it’s weight; I know how that plays into my putts.

Putting takes a lot of practice. Typically, we drive the ball eighteen times in a game, but putt at least double that number. So doesn’t it stand that we should practice our putting at least twice as much as driving? If you can’t get to the practice green regularly, just practice on your carpet at home.

Bear in mind that the ball can not make it to the hole, if it doesn’t have enough power behind it to get it in there. So, take the time to get down on your knees and look at the path from your ball to the hole. Does it slope one way or the other? Does it run uphill or downhill?

So, stand with your feet spread apart for balance and line up the putt. Keep you hands, arms and shoulders completely still. Imagine that you are a “bobble head” but that you move from just below your chest. Keep your head directly over the ball. Pull your club back; keep your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders steady - the movement comes from your chest. Hit the ball, following the ball through with your club.

Try to learn from each putt and remember the lesson. Practice, practice, practice!

Golfing for Novices: Part Four

We have all the seen the bewilderingly long and yet accurate drives of Tiger Woods. When he hits the ball, it flies through the air only to land in the bang middle of the fairway, 300 odd metres away.

The green-eyed monster of envy rises in us as we wonder if we could ever possibly hope to drive like that. Fortunately, long drives are not the be-all-and-end-all of the game of golf.

So, we get to the ’short game’ because without decent short game skills, all those great long drives are not worth a candle.

We call the ’short game’ those shots that get you onto the green from roughly a hundred feet away from the hole, no matter whether it’s from the fairway, a bunker, the rough or a drop zone. It includes all chips, sand shots and pitches.

It is in this middle stage of the game of golf that you get to use the higher numbered clubs, your pitching iron and sand wedge or lob wedge.

You will find practice areas on most golf courses. You really must spend some time working on hitting the ball onto the green from various distances. Try to hit a ten-foot circle in the centre of the green at first. Experiment using your wedges, but remember that what works well for one person, might not work so well for you and your particular swing.

After you have got into the habit of being able to perform this skill consistently, it’s time to start practising in a sand bunker. Being able to get the ball out of a bunker can cut your score dramatically.

Plant your feet firmly into the sand with your left foot turned toward the hole. Imagine a 4-inch circle around the ball and try to hit the edge of the circle that is furthest away from the ball.

Take lots of sand with your ball and swing through completely. Don’t decelerate at all when or after you hit the ball. It should pop up onto the green and stop. This doesn’t work well though unless the sand is dry, soft and powdery. On hard surfaces, you might need to avoid actually hitting the sand at all.

However, as in all aspects of the game of golf, only practice will help you to improve your score.

Carp Fishing Information

As maddening as it can be, carp fishing is tremendous. Carp are really good at sucking in and blowing out dubious baits. It’s such an exciting moment to see the whole action in a fraction of a second as you wait with baited breath to see if the fish will accept the bait

Carp happily feed on the surface of the water as long as you keep the pellets, biscuits, chic peas, bread, and re-hydrated corn coming and these are inexpensive baits too. Just affix the bait to the hooks: I think bread works the best. First soften the biscuits by dipping them in the water for about 2 minutes, then, put them in a sealed, plastic sandwich bag for about an hour. Given that different brands have different textures, you will just have to carry out trials to find out which kind is firm enough to cast. One more way to hook bait is by super gluing the pellet onto the shank of the hook.

Once they get into feeding, let them feel happy around the bait. This gives more opportunity for the angler because they will become less choosy. This tactic can be especially useful for zig rigs.

As soon as they’re feeding, cast the bait but make sure not to cast the bait directly into the feeding carp. Cast away from the feeding area then slowly reel the bait into place. While the bait is still hanging, keep the food coming in so as to keep the carp from leaving.

How to Set-Up Your Rig?

1 Use a hair rig to increase your chance of catching fish. Since carp taste their food first, they won’t feed if they don?t like the taste. 2 You may also use a Spider Line, 50 lbs breaking strain, then use a leader that suits the situation. ? Thread the bait on the baiting needle and hook the hair loop. You might also use foam rubber dipped in a flavor in order to enhance the attractiveness of the bait. 3 You could also make a baiting needle by just straightening a long shank hook. Then slide the bait on the shank, and then slip the bait from the needle onto the hair. 4 Using a float is also an help because it adds weight in order to be able to cast farther, you will also be able to see where the bait is. 5 Don’t forget the controller float rig. A leader can be attached to the swivel on the mainline. It ought to be at least 3 feet in length with a 10lbs Drennan double strength. A low diameter mono will do, just so long as it floats well enough to be seen.

As experts say, it is not the bait that catches carp but the way in which the bait is introduced. Pre-bait everyday, in one spot for a few days. This encourages the carp to think that there is a repeated source of food for them and by ?word of mouth? there?ll soon be a shoal of fish around. Just be patient and it will all work out just dandy.

Astronomy Fun Facts

Astronomy is an interesting science to many people because it is stuffed with loads of fun astronomy facts. Everything from the size and temperature of our own star, the Sun, to the make-up of distant planets has been established. All of this information can be retold to entertain and enlighten your friends.

The Sun is a fantastic source of astronomy fun facts. Our own star that supplies us with all our heat and light is between 91 and 94.5 million miles from Earth. It’s not that nobody knows the distance for certain. It’s that the Earth revolves around the Sun in an elliptical, uneven, orbit, so the distance varies depending on where the Earth lies in that orbit.

The Sun is only an average size star, yet it’s size is another great source of astronomy fun facts. As average as it is, it accounts for about 98% of all the matter in our solar system. Even with the huge planet of Jupiter on our side, we’re still only a tiny 2% of non Sun material.

It would take the diameter of about 100 Earths to measure across this average Sun. The solar winds produced by the Sun extends to about 50 times the distance from the Earth to the Sun. In other words, those solar winds go out about 50 AU’s, with an AU being the distance from the Earth to the sun. That’s quite fantastic, isn’t it?.

What about astronomy fun facts that don’t have anything at all to do with the Sun then? What about our Moon? It’s the only object that man has walked upon except the Earth until now. And one man actually travelled to the Moon but has never left it. Dr. Eugene Shoemaker loved the Moon but was not found acceptable as an astronaut. After his death, he was cremated and his ashes were scattered over the Moon by the Lunar Prospector spacecraft in 1999.

There are many more astronomy fun facts about the Moon. It’s the site of what may become the oldest footprint known to man. Neil Armstrong’s giant leap for mankind left a footprint or shoe print in the Moon’s dust that will probably still be visible in 10 million years time.

Lots of people, in fact about 13% of those asked in 1988, still thought the Moon to be made of cheese. And finally, the suits worn by the Moon-walking astronauts weighed 180 pounds on Earth but only 30 pounds on the Moon, because of the Moon’s reduced gravity. Talk about losing weight, eh?

Astronomy fun facts aren’t limited to our close astronomical neighbours. Looking at stars is like looking into the past. Some of the stars we see nowadays in the night sky are so far away that their light takes a million years to reach Earth. Some of the stars you see may literally be images of stars a million years old that aren’t even there now. There are over 1 x 10 ^22 stars in the universe. That’s a 1 followed by 22 zeros. And all their planets. The number is really quite awesome.

There are millions of astronomy fun facts and we could relate them forever. But unfortunately, this article can not. So, please, walk out there and learn more about astronomy for yourself.
