The Successful Treatment of Acne

Acne is ghastly. However, it’s not something that cannot be dealt with. There are loads of acne skin care products around. We can classify acne skin care products into 3 broad categories -

1] Deterrent or all-purpose acne skin care items; 2] Over-the-counter, specialised acne skin care products; 3] Prescription acne skin care items.

The general acne skin care products are the ones that are used as an acne-prevention measure. These include cleansers, make-up removers and similar items that help prevent acne. In the real sense, these acne skin care products are those that should be part of your daily schedule anyway. However, some of these are more orientated to work like an everyday acne skin care product.

These acne skin care products act against the reasons for acne e.g. limiting the production of sebum/oil and avoiding the congestion of skin pores. Basically, these acne skin care products inhibit the oil from getting trapped in the skin and hence impede the growth of the bacteria that lead to acne. Broad-spectrum acne skin care items also take in exfoliation products like skin peels. These work by removing dead skin cells, thereby reducing the likelihood of pore-clogging and bacteria increase.

Then there are specialised acne skin care products that are available over-the-counter i.e. without the requirement of a prescription. These include products like vanishing creams which remove the extra oil from the skin. Most of these acne skin care items are based on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacteria (and therefore acne). You should start with a product that has a lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) and see how your skin reacts to it.

Alpha-hydroxy-acid based moisturizers are also popular as acne skin care products. You might have to test a few, before you find the acne skin care product that is most effective for you. If nothing seems to work, you should get in touch with a dermatologist.

Prescription-only acne skin care products are the ones that are prescribed by a dermatologist. These include ointments that can be rubbed on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical medication. Dermatologists might also recommend a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules. However, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, it can lead to the everlasting damage of your skin.

Your physician could also prescribe a hormone-based treatment (since hormonal changes are also known to cause acne). Such acne skin care items are known to be very efficacious in many circumstances. So, with all those acne skin care items, tackling acne is really not all that difficult.

Atkins Products for Dieting

Dieting is never easy to begin with, and frankly just because you’re going on the Atkins Diet, it doesn’t mean that it will get any easier either. Sure, you can eat virtually unlimited amounts of high fat and high protein foods, but you’re still on a diet and you still need to control your food consumption.

For one thing, you will have to limit your carbohydrate consumption especially in the first phase of your diet, and although you get to increase that incrementally later on in the diet, you might still be missing your favourite carbs, like bread or chocolate, and can still be prone to these cravings. And that’s where some of the Atkins products can help.

Having tried some of the Atkins products myself, I have to mention that I consider them to be worth the money. They are not cheap, but then again, nor are they so expensive that you’ll only be able to afford one item and go hungry for the rest of the time, although that might, in its own way help that you would lose your excess weight!

However, you’ll be glad to know that there’s a range of Atkins products for you to select from which can help satisfy even your strongest food cravings and as an added benefit, as I said earlier, they taste good as well. But if that isn’t enough for you, you’ll be happy to hear that they can also satisfy your sugar cravings as well as being good for you and filling you up!

So, which Atkins products can you get? Well, it is impossible to describe them all here because they cover a wide range of foodstuffs, so it really depends on what phase of the diet you’re at and what you foodstuff you crave. If it’s breakfast bars, then there’s the ‘Morning Start Breakfast Bars’ which is high in protein and fibre and which also has the right amount of calcium you require too. Then you’ll come across my own personal favourite, the ‘Peanut Butter Granola Bar’, filled with crunchy wholesomeness and peanut butter.

Then again if you truly crave something from your diet, you can always try one of the Atkins products which feature different flavours, say the milk shakes. For example, if you miss chocolate, you could try an Atkins Chocolate Milk Shake. Let’s be honest, where would you be without milk shakes? Probably in the same place you’d be without your ‘Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars’.

Have you read enough to whet your appetite? Do you believe that you can stick to your diet with any of these Atkins products sitting in your cupboards with only a modicum of moaning?

So, what are you waiting for? Go and grab your Atkins products now. There’s only so much will power a person has and the better prepared you are the easier it will be to stick to your diet and the quicker you can lose that unwanted weight.

Following the Atkins Diet

The short name for the ‘Atkins Nutritional Approach’ is the ‘Atkins Diet’, which was the invention of Doctor Robert Atkins. Dr. Atkins had put on a lot of excess weight while he was studying in medical school and after reading about a certain diet in the medical journal, he made up his mind to improve it and release it under his own name.

Atkins, in his Atkins Diet, stated that he believed that the prevailing theories about weight gain were all wrong. First, he dismissed the idea that saturated fats were bad; instead he said it was it was carbohydrates that led to the weight problems Americans have. Atkins declared that our obsession with fat actually worsened the problem. He pointed to all the low-fat foods that were high in carbohydrates, which meant that people on a diet often ate foods that were worse for them than what they normally ate.

The Atkins diet shifts the focus. Atkins said that by cutting out carbohydrates, people would burn stored body fats. And if you lose the fat, you lose the weight. He said it was not just a matter of eating less. Dr. Atkins held that your diet could actually help you burn calories. The Atkins diet supposedly burned more calories than were consumed everyday. But the claims were contested.

Dr. Atkins also touted the positive influence that his diet could have on people with type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is a disease you get early in life, but type 2 is often closely associated with diet and surplus body weight. So, it should follow that any diet that helps decrease weight, will help people with Type 2 diabetes. The Atkins diet is low in carbohydrates, which must be avoided with type 2 diabetes regardless of the caloric intake, so because of this aspect of the diet, Atkins claimed that those who suffer type 2 diabetes would no longer need medication such as insulin. In general, doctors disagree with Atkins on this point, although they do agree, however, that a lower carbohydrate intake helps control Type 2 diabetes, but there is no proof that carbohydrates cause diabetes.

What are the procedures one has to follow to do the Atkins diet? It goes in four phases - Induction; On-Going Weight loss; Pre-maintenance; and Lifetime Maintenance. Here follows a brief precis of the most important phase - The Induction Phase.

The Induction phase is the most difficult phase of the Atkins diet. Atkins is flexible about the time period ” but recommends it lasts for two weeks. During this phase carbohydrates are severely limited ” you can only consume up to 20 grams per day. The goal is to enter a fat burning metabolic phase called ketosis when the body, starved of glucose, will start converting stored fat into fatty acids needed to power the body. Weight loss during this phase can be large ” some Atkins followers reported losses of 5-10 pounds a week or more.

The goals of the final three phases in the Atkins diet are to learn the ideal carbohydrate levels for the next two phases, which are continued weight loss and weight maintenance. Many millions of people are still losing the weight they want to on the Atkins Diet ” but be aware of the risks of taking in too much cholesterol and fat.

Weight Loss Diets - Tips To Lose 30 Pounds - Explained

We usually have a picture in our minds when we think about the changes we want to make in our life. We might envision a bigger house, more holidays, a faster car and maybe a job with more status. We might see ourselves looking quite different to how we look now - more toned, slimmer, better dressed.

Dreaming of these things tells us what we’d love to have in the next few years - which is a good way to fire up a goal plan. Without these ideas, we’re not likely to put anything into practice.

Positive visualisation alone won’t bring results though. We must accept that changes will be needed. “The definition of insanity,” according to Albert Einstein, “is to do the same thing and expect different results.” Or put another way, we’ll carry on having what we’ve always had if we carry on doing what we’ve always done.

To make great progress in what we have, we need to make great changes not only to the way we do things, but more importantly to the way we think. Knowing that there’s going to be a deal of exertion to do to get the things we want to have isn’t a great revelation. It’s a basic law of life that we have to give in order to receive. But the rewards we want won’t just turn up purely from doing the work.

To realise the things we want in our lives, we have to behave in a manner that suggests our goals are a done deal! That means if our goal is to reduce our weight by thirty pounds in the next year, we have to become a diligent diet student and stick to a certain amount of work-out time every week.

Hanging out with friends comes after the work-out’s been completed. The achiever is happy there’ll be plenty more social time down the road (and more admiring glances!) if they put the effort in first. A healthy attitude to dieting makes the slimming process easier, and brings results much faster.

Success can’t come by itself. We’ll get knocks along the way, so a strong mental stance is paramount.

We can connect with positive achievers by watching films and reading biographies of others who’ve overcome challenges on their path to success. Almost all the stories tell the same tale. The winner visualised being a winner from the beginning and internalised the process. By focusing on becoming who we need to be, we’ll enjoy the exertions we have to do more and receive the things we want to have so much faster.

New Ideas - Internet Weight Management Products

It started when I sat down with my wife Katie and we began to search for answers to our weight problems. We first identified what each of us hoped to gain and why being slimmer would give us that. We were surprised to realise that our goals were fairly simple. For Katie, it was all about the kids - being able to get in and play with them. She also wanted to lose the embarrassment she felt being in her bathing suit.

Most of all I hoped to dress well again. I had become completely fed up with ‘fat boy’ clothes! And for health reasons I wanted to be able to run up the stairs at home and not feel sick!

We did our research, and found that as well as considering how we look, we also have to consider how we feel about ourselves. Those of us who are obese tend to have a very low self-image. It’s a popular assumption that reducing weight will make everything in life good again. Katie and I can really relate to this, and thought you might appreciate our take on things.

Over time scientists have discovered that our sub conscious mind stores information, but can’t decipher whether that information is actually ‘real’. It therefore ‘programs’ the conscious element of our brain with anything that occupies it. Process that thought repeatedly, it emerges as its prevailing concept and thus it’s actual truth.

Take a little time to ponder on that one… For years we’ve probably been programming our mind about how over weight we are. So instead of telling our subconscious what we don’t want, we should tell it what we DO want.

If we concentrate on the positive things we’ll enjoy when we’re slimmer, it’s easier to get through the tough times. We started off with all the things we’d like to do or have more of: Things like having fun with the kids, cycling, more confidence, poise, going for long walks, dancing and playing tennis.

Next we conjured up visions of ourselves on vacation, looking fantastic in our new summer gear. Everyone approved of our good looks. Everything was fantastic!

My wife and I went through the process and can vouch for the results. We both have 100 percent more energy and our new lifestyle brings laughter every day.

Tips To Lose Fat Safely - Ideas Considered

Weight Loss Can Be Distressing - You should recognize that in addition to being the problem for millions that it is - it’s also a business. A vast amount of cash is spent on diet related products - and many companies are in a position to dupe would-be slimmers into buying their goods.

In All Honesty, Is It Really That Bad? Maybe you’re not classed as obese, but you’re probably somewhat overweight if you’re reading this. Around seven tenths of people in America can be classed as having weight problems. That’s over two hundred million! What’s more, it’s not a great deal less elsewhere. Yet we don’t wish to win this race…

Take the United Kingdom - nearly a quarter of all adults are considered obese. This figure is set to get much higher. The 2009 figure could escalate to nine tenths by mid-century.

We really shouldn’t allow this to happen. No-one wants this trend to continue. Proper eating programs are required reading; ignore all the hype from diet pill manufacturers.

It is commonly understood in medical circles that weight problems lead to other difficulties, including… Liver Disease; High Cholesterol; Osteoarthritis; Cancer; Sleep Apnoea; Type Two Diabetes; High Blood Pressure; Mental Health Problems; Heart Disease; Heart Failure. Weight reduction then isn’t just for cosmetic reasons.

It’s not like we have to be SKINNY - we just have to healthy. It’s about feeling comfortable and finding a weight you can maintain.

We should also teach our kids about good health. We should educate our youngsters from an early age, helping them to form good habits from the start. We’re not the only ones who’ll suffer if we continue doing what we’ve always done. We (and our kids) will get more of what we’ve already got. Which mom and pop wants that?

All of this means we can’t afford to carry on as we are. It’s our duty to learn more about which foods are nutritionally sound. We have no chance of teaching our offspring how to eat well for good health if we don’t know how to do it ourselves. But more than just the next generation - we could help to reverse the obesity trends we were discussing above if we start to get it right now.

Insights - Fast Fat Loss Diets

Hardly any of us can say hand on heart that we’re not concerned when we read about the health implications of being too heavy. The problem is there always seems to be a good reason not to do anything about our own weight challenges. So maybe it’s time for a few home truths.

It’s Not Your Fault You’re Obese! To put that in perspective: It’s not that we’re telling you you’re powerless to change things. Simply that you’ve been led a dance by the profit-hungry diet industry.

This feature isn’t intended to be condescending - quite the opposite in fact. Wouldn’t you relish knowing more about proper weight control?

Being overweight can be the result of many different things. The thing to realize is it’s time to change - by educating ourselves the RIGHT way. We’re not trapped into a lifetime of obesity.

Imagine this happening: a car repairer is given a complete set of BMW tools to work on a Ford car. They’re entirely the wrong set of tools for the job. They’re not equipped for the job at all.

Without the correct tools, he can’t possibly do a good job. Naturally being issued with the right tools is the KEY to success. Even though he’ll know something about how to do the task, the wrong kit will just leave him very stressed out. You may think what we’ve described is simplistic - and yet it absolutely parallels the problem we’re discussing. Hence we’re looking to provide you with specially designed tools for fat prevention.

In reality, we’re a diverse bunch of people. That is what makes living interesting. Some things work for some people but don’t work for others. A selection of systems and tools will give you the choice to find one that ‘fits’ you.

Previous slimming attempts will have demonstrated that some times of day can be more challenging to diet than others. As a rule, a busy routine makes dieting much easier. The way we live has evolved over many years - and we can see how heavily it influences the ease or difficulty of diet regimes. We need systems with the right tools to simplify our problem. Only then can we develop daily habits that will help us to stick with a healthy eating program for life.

Our quest was to discover real information, written by authors of merit. Responsible people that understood our needs and provided useful information. The key to this problem is knowledge! This was our fundamental. We wanted education that would be on-going, not something that ate into our budget every week.

Each program we shortlisted offers real, well-tested advice. We left the ’sensational must haves’ well alone. They’re just the latest gimmick!

Many of us have struggled with one diet or other for most of our adult lives. Our weight reduces when we first start dieting, then it goes up again the minute we eat normally. Figures show that over 93 percent of weight reduction programs don’t work for us - probably because they’re too punishing to maintain over the long term.

It’s a little known fact, but professional sports people attribute a great deal of their performance to their diet program. Optimal, tuned-up fitness may not be something you strive for, but the research benefits more than just sports men and women. Modern do-able eating programs have been developed from the results of the sports research - for regular guys like us.

Naturally, it’s common to procrastinate. In one to two weeks, we could be seeing a reduction. So just make a start… Just make the effort to get going. Then congratulate yourself!

Weight Loss Diets Uncovered - Losing Thirty Pounds

The amount of regular exercise that we take will significantly affect how quickly we lose weight when we’re on a diet. Many would prefer not to exercise, but the rewards are worth it. Exercising not only uses up calories, it also develops muscle.

Metabolically speaking, muscle is more active than fat. Therefore it’s a good idea to build muscle to use up our ‘fuel’. We use up more calories in direct proportion to the amount of muscle we have. Muscle development tones up and defines our overall shape.

It may take time to build up a routine. It’s often easier to get the exercise habit going by being more active in your day to day life. Climb steps rather than taking an elevator whenever possible. If you drive to your job, leave your car at the other end of the parking bay. Get off the bus sooner than you normally do - you’ll quickly get used to the daily mini-hike!

Your goal should be to take some form of exercise five times a week. You can do short bursts of exercise, but 30 minutes or more is generally thought to be best. Doing a variety of exercises will relieve the boredom. That way you’re much more likely to stick with it.

Becoming toned and fitter does not need to be a downer! Ask around and see if you can encourage a second person to join you. The easiest exercise that any of us can take is walking. If you build up a good pace, you’ll benefit from more than simply losing weight.

People who are actively fit suffer much less from heart attacks and strokes. Inactive females have a greater risk of breast cancer than active ones. Adult cholesterol is considerably lower in energetic people. Interestingly, many who are depressed and anxious can alleviate their symptoms by taking robust walks. Therefore we can anticipate feeling much fitter as well as looking much slimmer.

Choose some easy to wear clothing for walking. It’s best to wear several thin layers that can be taken off if necessary, or all left on for greater warmth. It’s important to try shoes or boots on before you decide to buy. Your toes should be able to move freely around, but the rest of your foot should be held firm.

At the start of each walk, run through a quick check on your posture. Distribute your weight evenly, and tuck your tummy in. Relax and drop your shoulders down. Warm yourself up properly before you start your walk. This can be done with some stretches, rolling of shoulders and squats. Then finish the warm-up by marching on the spot.

Try to develop a good walking technique - land on the heel and push off from the toe. At the end of your walk, warm down by doing the same routine you did to warm-up, but in reverse. Your first walks need only be a mile or so, and then increase the distance each week. Walking is something that everyone can do. However if you’re at all concerned, take medical advice.
